Greater Coastal Community Action Council coordinates with community partners to ensure academic success for children in its various service areas. GCCAC recently donated children’s books to the Galveston Independent School District’s Mobile Book Bus. The mobile book bus travels to underserved areas in Galveston and gives free books to children. Facilitating the coordination of this book donation are Mrs. Priscilla Brown-Merritte, Project Manager for GCCAC, and Mrs. Elizabeth Bennett, District Coordinator of Academic Programs and Student Outcomes for the Galveston ISD.

“The GISD Book Bus cannot thank GCCAC enough for the many boxes of books donated today!” said Elizabeth Bennett, “I was just looking through one box, and all I wanted to do was find a corner to read!

The children of Galveston will love receiving these text-rich treasures. Again, thank you for your generosity and supporting literacy in Galveston!”
